Painter & Photographer — Gdańsk

Prot Urban (b. 1991, Majdan Kozłowiecki, Poland) is a contemporary painter and photographer who lives and works in Gdańsk. He studied graphic arts at the Faculty of Art, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, developing a foundation in composition and visual storytelling that informs his practice across disciplines.

His work brings together fine art and fashion photography. In painting, he focuses primarily on abstraction, seeking order, balance and harmony. Through colour, texture and form, his canvases explore the beauty of nature and its organic order, searching for a sense of calm.

Rather than depicting nature literally, Urban seeks to capture its essence: a fleeting atmosphere, rhythm and elemental stillness. The Baltic Sea and the coastal character of the Tricity are central to his inspiration. In an ongoing dialogue with the horizon, wind, water and human uncertainty, he finds the motifs that emerge in his paintings.
